We wanted to improve the functionality that allows users to associate existing documents to calendar events, so we introduced a new approach as part of the June 8th software release to address customer concerns. Where you'd once had to select files one by one from a potentially long list of documents, we gave you the ability to search for documents instead.
We thought we'd enhanced the core product. But some of you thought we'd made a mistake -- a mistake you were more than happy to bring to our attention!
So we took a closer look, talked to a few of you, and made another change or two to improve the document selection process in Workspace. We think you'll be pleased with the results.
But instead of simply reverting back to the single-select model we had before, we've now made it possible for users to associate multiple documents -- in a single operation, no less. This new multi-select function shows you all the documents for a given time period and allows you to associate multiple documents at once. We've also extended the date filter to accommodate "All" (forever).
Both the multi-select function and date range filter changes are improvements over earlier iterations, and should provide much better usability. We've now built these components into the ballot creation processes as well.
While we endeavor to make the right decisions for our customers, we're also here to listen and act decisively when we've made a mistake. We apologize for the inconvenience we introduced, and want to thank those who took the time to provide clear and vocal feedback.

Kavi will be deploying an update to your Workspace Installation on Tuesday, June 8th.
We're thrilled to debut three refinements to much-used features in a typical Kavi Workspace installation, and they all have one key component in common: they allow administrators to do much more while using far fewer clicks! In fact, people have been asking for the ability to edit a batch of documents in one fell swoop, or to move an entire document folder containing hundreds of documents in just a few clicks for quite some time now, and we're happy to offer these solutions to our customers.
The three refinements described below make it easier for organization administrators or managers to work with either documents or project activities (using our new ProjectView component).
Document managers and administrators can now perform bulk actions on documents, including moving, changing the document state, locking or unlocking, deleting, or relating to a project in ProjectView. To learn more, read this Knowledge Base article.
Project contacts or administrators now can perform bulk actions on Project Activities in ProjectView. This includes marking multiple activities complete, changing dates, or deleting several activities, and can be executed on one or more Project Activities simultaneously. View the Knowledge Base article for more.
This request is one that we've consistently heard from organizations for a while now, and we're happy to deliver! Now, those people with document manager privileges have the ability to move folders from one group to another while preserving folder settings and retaining meta-data, display settings and sub-folders. We do suggest that you read the details in this Knowledge Base article before moving a folder, please!
We've also published a few bug fixes in addition to these three new features as part of this iterative release. For complete details, please see the Changelogs linked from the Help page in your Workspace 5 installation.
We look forward to your feedback as you begin using these new features.

We'll be deploying an update to your Workspace Installation on Tuesday, April 13th.
We've completely reworked the Ballots landing page, and extended At a Glance views (first deployed on our Documents page) to both ProjectView and the Ballots page. We're also debuting a new feature: the ability to compare text differences between document revisions (on a single document with multiple versions) in the browser window itself. Finally, we've deployed minor bug fixes and language clarifications where needed.
The Ballot page in each group is now more streamlined and easier to use. We have incorporated some of the features and design elements from the Documents page, including At a Glance views and enhanced search filter options. Now when you come to the Ballots page you'll see a list of all ballots, with 40 ballots displayed per page of results. Use the filters and At a Glance views to refine that view, as needed.
We added At a Glance views to the ProjectView page, including All Projects, Projects by End Date, and projects with the End Date Not Set. Used independently or in conjunction with the Filter options, these views make it faster to find the projects you are interested in. (For more information about ProjectView, read this earlier forum announcement or visit the product launch page on Kavi.com.)
We have added a utility to compare the text differences between the current and previous revisions of a document stored in a group's Document repository. If the file can be rendered as text, you can view the differences in a color-coded interface. (Note, XML not yet available)

Kavi software is designed to work on modern browsers. To continue to improve our products and deliver more sophisticated features, we take advantage of many of the latest improvements in web browser technology, including faster JavaScript processing and new standards such as HTML5. Additionally, as a company that is pivotal in supporting the evolution and adoption of technology standards, Kavi is diligent in its efforts to adhere to the industry best-practice coding standards established by the W3C.
In 2009, Kavi deployed its new Workspace 5 product to over 90 organizations. The feedback continues to be overwhelmingly positive. The WS5 core product will continue to evolve in 2010.
To continue with our efforts to make a richer Workspace experience possible, we have decided to discontinue support for outdated browsers. Specifically, Kavi will begin phasing out support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 over the remainder of 2010, as well as browsers no longer supported by their manufacturers.
Though the number of companies impacted is rapidly decreasing, we do understand that this may present an issue for organizations that have browser technologies legislated at the company level. Recent security issues have prompted a national and industry-wide initiative to discontinue support for IE 6. We are happy to assist organizations towards this goal by helping identify optimal browser settings or to troubleshoot configurations. See below for a list of related Kavi Knowledge Base articles.
We look forward to bringing new innovations to you and your members! Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Betsy Richter
